Itinerary

Monday 21st July

    • Accommodation is booked from 4.00pm – arrive any time after that. If you are the first one there please phone Cath (07507592266) for key/access details

    • Everyone will be responsible for their own evening meal/supper. There are shops in Marsden (the Marsden/Golcar Co-ops stay open until late) and there is an Aldi close by to the property in Milnsbridge. There are a couple of pubs serving evening meals and one or two bistro/take-aways in the area.

Tuesday 22nd July

Katie’s homemade kitchen breakfasts (high street Marsden)

  • Choice of self-catering breakfast in your accommodation/ eat out for breakfast. Katie’s homemade kitchen in Marsden do lovely breakfasts at a reasonable price (details above). This is within walking distance of the Conservative Club venue.
  • 10.00am we meet at the venue: Marsden Conservative Club, Victoria St, Marsden, Huddersfield, HD7 6DF
  • 10.00am – 10.45am welcome, prayer, worship/dance
  • 10.45am – 12.00 noon EDDIE
  • 12noon – 1.30pm lunch break. There are several coffee shops/cafes in Marsden within a five minute walk, a Co-op, a couple of sandwich shops etc. as well as a fully functional kitchen on the same floor as the meeting area in the Conservative Club.
  • CHANGE OF PLAN!! THE BOAT TRIP SCHEDULED FOR TOMORROW WILL NOW TAKE PLACE TODAY! PLEASE MAKE YOUR WAY ( A SHORT WALK) UP TO THE CANAL AT THE TOP OF THE ROAD FOR A LOVELY SCENIC BOAT TRIP ALONG THE CANAL!

Pre-booked evening meal provided by Katie’s Homemade Kitchen, Marsden

We have pre-ordered a hot meal for Tuesday evening, consisting of either slow-cooked beef or slow-cooked chicken with side salad and coleslaw, followed by a chocolate brownie, for a total of £9 a head. The food will be delivered and we can all eat together. A vegetarian/vegan/gluten-free option will be available if you let us know your requirements beforehand.

The photos above do not represent the exact meal but are an example of the food Katie’s kitchen offers. Everything is home-cooked and done to the highest standards. We hope everyone is happy with the meal we have chosen, a healthy, home-cooked meal catering for all of us with a budget! For the vegetarians/vegans/gluten intolerant the gravy is vegan and gluten free, and there is a nut roast option, or mushrooms and veg cooked in gravy as a replacement.

We would appreciate if you would all take us up on this meal because the price relies on the maximum number of people ordering this choice.

Wednesday 23rd July

  • CHANGE OF PLAN! THIS BOAT TRIP WILL NOW TAKE PLACE ON TUESDAY!
  • Today we have planned a short 12 to 15 minute trip by barge along the canal from Marsden Station to the Standedge Tunnel visitor centre. Each boat carries up to 12 passengers and is operated by trained unpaid volunteers. There is no charge, but we have been asked for a donation with cash into the red bucket or one tap of your contactless card, Apple Pay or Google Pay on their card reader. The Canal Society is a registered charity relying 100% on donations to keep the boats running, so PLEASE BE AS GENEROUS AS YOU CAN! THANK YOU!.
  • For this short trip we will be in the societies’ new all electric craft built in 2022. It is quiet & spacious and incorporates a wheelchair lift to aid accessibility. We are hoping the driver will be able to give a short talk about Standedge tunnel, which is the longest, deepest and highest canal tunnel in Britain.
  • At the Standedge tunnel end of this trip there is a visitor centre with a tea/coffee machine and also cold drinks/biscuits/crisps and snacks and Dixons famous home-made ice cream.
  • 2.00pm – 2.30pm Worship

  • 4.00pm to 5.00pm EDDIE
  • 5.00pm – 6.30pm Evening meal from Prendi’s Italian cafe and takeaway (details below)

Thursday 24th July

All say our goodbyes and leave accommodation by 10.00am

We hope you will have all been richly blessed by this last four days, and that we all go home with much to consider, with a willing heart to make changes however the holy Spirit directs us!
